Non-Profit: Bluegrass AMBUCS We are a local non-profit (registered 501(c)3 charitable organization) with a mission to provide specially adapted bicycles to children with disabilities in the Central Kentucky area. Each child is evaluated by a volunteer occupational or physical therapist to determine what accessories and styles they will need, and then our all-volunteer team builds and fits the bike for the child. Children with special needs face so many challenges and barriers throughout their life, and our goal is to reshape the way Lexington and surrounding counties understand disability and inclusion. Every child can ride an adapted bike and deserves the opportunity to do so, despite their unique needs. We have given away 78 bicycles over the past 4 years and would love to make it to 100 before the end of the year. Our biggest need is fundraising/giving initiatives – we currently have over 10 kids waiting to get their bikes! Each bike can cost anywhere from $300-$1,500 depending on the medical needs of the child and we are hoping to do a mission Monday to fund raise for it!Share this:TweetShare on TumblrEmailPrint
